Meeting the need of a construction industry with increasing standardization, pre-qualification requirements and a growing shortage of able professionals, the American Society of Professional Estimators announces the development of a new estimating proficiency exams*.
WHO:
- EP-2 will be an exam which any estimator with a minimum of two years experience can take to verify their knowledge of basic and advanced estimating skills. The exam was developed by the ASPE Certification Board**.
WHAT:
- EP-2 will be 100 questions of general estimating knowledge- not CSI specific.
WHERE / WHEN:
- After initial roll out the exams will be available on computer at hundreds of locations and proctored by ASPE certified estimators. Once rolled out nationally the EP-II exam will be available "on demand", via a computerized method at approx. 180 locations in the USA and Canada.
WHY:
- The EP- 2 exam should provide those who pass the opportunity to show their employers or prospective employers they hold certain abilities. ASPE members will continue to use the “E” after their name.
- Feedback from many sources tells us, that company owners will likely require estimating applicants take this test to verify their abilities prior to employment. [http://www.aspenational.com/EP2AugustAd2.pdf] for more.
- Employers may ask for the test in order to confirm basic abilities in their junior estimators.
- Those who complete & pass the EP-2 exam will receive a certificate from ASPE National offices.
